Onboard Navigation System

Onboard Navigation System is an integrated electronic system designed to assist maritime vessels in safe and efficient navigation. These systems use a combination of satellite positioning, radar, sonar and digital chart to provide real-time data on the vessel location, route planning, and collision avoidance.

Key Components of Onboard Navigation System :

  1. Electronic Chart Display and Information System (ECDIS) for Replaces traditional paper charts with digital nautical maps.

  2. Global Positioning System (GPS) / Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) for provide accurate latitude and longitude coordinates.

  3. Radio Detection and Ranging (X-Band & S-Band Radar) for detects nearby vessel, landmasses and obstacles in low visibility (fog, night) and used for collision avoidance and tracking moving targets.

  4. Automatic Identification System (AIS) for broadcast and receives vessel data (position, speed, course) to avoid collisions. This equipment is mandatory for commercial vessel under SOLAS.

  5. Speedlog for provides true speed of the vessel

  6. Gyrocompass, Magentic Compass and Satellite Compass for provides true heading and backup heading vessel.

  7. Echo Sounder for measures water depth to prevent grounding

  8. Autopilot for maintans course automatically

  9. Voyage Data Recorder (VDR) for records navigation data for accident investigation

  10. Integrated Bridge System for integrated all equipment onboard system into single interface.
