As part of ongoing efforts to modernize its maritime training infrastructure, Politeknik Ilmu Pelayaran (PIP) Semarang in Indonesia has added a new Transas Full Mission Bridge Simulator to its education facilities. This upgrade represents a strategic investment in the country's ability to prepare cadets for real-world maritime operations.
Developed by Transas Marine Pacific, the simulator delivers immersive, high-fidelity training environments that replicate actual ship navigation conditions. The installation includes not only a full mission bridge but also multiple desktop stations for part-task and classroom training. These are configured to offer a broad range of exercises — from standard navigation to advanced emergency and maneuvering scenarios.
The system features a wide field-of-view visual display, realistic radar and ECDIS simulation, and integrated vessel control components. This allows for comprehensive training in ship handling, watchkeeping, communication, and bridge team management.
The simulator was designed in accordance with IMO STCW 2010 standards and aims to ensure that maritime students receive hands-on training aligned with international expectations. Instructors have access to advanced monitoring and debriefing tools to assess cadet performance and provide detailed feedback.
This installation is part of a broader trend in Indonesia, where maritime academies are adopting simulation-based training to elevate the quality and safety of maritime operations. The collaboration with Transas underscores Indonesia’s determination to be a key maritime nation with well-trained professionals.
