Two advanced maritime simulation systems developed by Transas, a global provider of navigation and training technology (now part of Wärtsilä), have been installed in Indonesia to strengthen the nation’s capacity for professional maritime education and training.
The installations include both a Navi-Trainer Professional 5000 (NTPro 5000) full mission bridge simulator and a part-task simulator. These systems are designed to deliver highly realistic training experiences for maritime officers, cadets, and instructors. The simulators replicate a wide range of scenarios, from standard ship operations to complex emergency procedures, enabling users to develop and refine critical navigation, communication, and situational awareness skills.
The NTPro 5000 full mission simulator is equipped with advanced visualization, radar, ECDIS, and control systems that mirror those found on actual vessels. It allows for complete bridge team training, including coordination, ship handling, and interaction with virtual ports and traffic.
Meanwhile, the part-task simulator supports training in specific tasks, such as radar plotting, maneuvering, or navigation exercises. Together, these tools provide a holistic learning environment for maritime professionals, aligning with the International Maritime Organization (IMO) standards and STCW training requirements.
The installation of these simulators in Indonesia underscores the country’s commitment to improving maritime education and safety. With the archipelagic nature of Indonesia and its strategic maritime location, such investments in training technology are crucial to support the growth and reliability of its maritime sector.
